POROS

-Det är full fart på hotellet nu och sommarvärmen har kommit. Det är runt 30 grader men ovanligt nog så kommer det en del moln dagligen och helt plötsligt kan det komma en regnskur vilket dock är bra för växtligheten.
I hela Grekland ska 28 stycken fiskodlingar byggas upp och tragiskt nog är Poros en av de ställen som är intressant för dessa anläggningar.
Besluten om detta har tagits på regeringsnivå och flertalet av anläggningarna har fått klartecken vilket gör det komplicerat att överklaga. Jag var på ett möte om detta och jag tycker att det är på gränsen till hur mycket man får ändra och förstöra både i naturen och för turismen som vi lever av här på Poros.
Det kom så mycket människor som visade intresse för och emot det här projektet så att det till slut inte fanns plats i lokalen och många fick stå utanför. Det hela slutade med att mötet flyttades till ett område utomhus istället.
Det finns dock en liten chans att det inte blir någon etablering på Poros.
Det finns nämligen en europeisk naturlag som säger att känslig natur som kan påverka lokalbefolkning och turismen negativt skall undantas från liknande projekt.
Eventuellt kan den lagen användas för att stoppa projektet runt Poros. Dessa odlingar planeras att ligga efter strandlinjen på norra sidan av ön utanför de vackra vikar där vanligtvis båtar brukar lägga till. Odlingarna kommer då att täcka 25% av strandlinjen. Vi får hoppas att projektet kommer att stoppas.

-It is full speed at the hotel now and the summer heat has arrived. It is around 30 degrees and there are clouds every day and all of a sudden there can be a downpour which is good for the vegetation but it is very unusual at this time of year.
Across Greece, 28 fish farms are to be built and tragically, Poros is one of the places of interest for these facilities.
The decisions on this have been taken at government level and the majority of the facilities have received the go-ahead level, which makes it complicated to appeal. I was at a meeting about this and I think it is on the limit of how much you can change and destroy both in nature and for the tourism that we live on here on.
There were so many people who showed interest for and against this project that in the end there was not enough space in the meeting room so many had to stand outside. It all ended with the meeting having to be moved to an outdoor area instead.
However, there is a small chance that there will be no establishment on Poros.
Namely, there is a European nature law that states that sensitive nature that can negatively affect the local population and tourism must be exempted from similar projects.
Possibly, that law can be used to stop the project around Poros. These plantations are planned to be located along the shoreline on the north side of the island outside the beautiful bays where boats usually dock. The plantations will then cover 25% of the shoreline. Let’s hope the project will be stopped.

-På hela Poros har det numera anordnats gång och cykelleder som är tydligt utmärkta med skyltar och även färgmärkning på vägarna. Dessa leder finns i Poros stad och runt om hela ön. Det finns även uppmärkta gångleder i citronodlingarna utanför Galata.

-En ny upplevelse på Poros för dig som vill se undervattensvärlden efter kusten men inte själv dyker, är den röda ubåten. Ja, nu är detta inte en riktig ubåt men den ser ut som en. Båten är utrustad med glasbotten där du får uppleva livet under vattenytan på utvalda platser. Turen varar i 40 minuter och kostar 12€ per person. Båten ligger utanför kiosken vid taxistationen och går flera turer per dag.

-A new experience on Poros for those who want to see the underwater world after the coast but do not dive themselves, is the red submarine. Ok, this is not a real submarine but it looks like one. The boat is equipped with a glass bottom where you can experience life under the surface of the water in selected locations. The tour lasts 40 minutes and costs €12 per person. The boat is located outside the kiosk at the taxi station and makes at several trips per day.

-Jag vill gärna pusha lite för den live kamera som finns på Poros. Den visar en del av hamnen och sundet över till Galata i realtid. POROS LIVE CAMERA. Det finns även ett snabbval i bloggens meny för den här kameran. Vädret blir bättre för varje dag nu och det känns att våren har kommit till Poros. Dagstemperaturen ligger nu på 17 till 20 grader och nattemperaturen på 12-15 grader. Vi har en hel del sol just nu men också dagar med moln och någon enstaka dag regnskurar. När vi kommer in i april brukar vädret bli mer stabilt med mer sol och högre dagstemperaturer och så småningom när havet blir varmare blir också nätterna varmare.

There is also a shortcut in the blog’s menu for this camera. The weather is getting better every day now and it now feels like spring has arrived in Poros. The daytime temperature is now at 17 to 20 degrees and the night temperature at 12-15 degrees. We have a lot of sun right now but also days with clouds and even the occasional day with rain showers. When we get into April the weather usually becomes more stable with more sun and higher daytime temperatures and then when the sea gets warmer the nights get warmer too.

-Välkomna till ett nytt spännande år på Panorama Apartments. Det har varit tyst från mig ett tag nu och det beror på att jag först hade en lång ledighet över jul och nyår. Därefter började en genomgång och inventering tillsammans med Vasillis angående åtgärder på hotellet innan det officiella öppnandet den 1:a april. Efter inventeringen var det dags att ta tag i de mest akuta åtgärderna. Under den här tiden har jag också haft öppet lite sporadiskt speciellt då över helger eftersom efterfrågan varit stor. Det här gjorde att det blev lite stressigt att åtgärda allt och samtidigt ha gäster på hotellet. För övrigt pågår förbättringsarbeten när så behövs under hela säsongen men just den här tiden efter nyåret är mest hektisk. Det som kommer att märkas direkt för er gäster är att alla husgeråd såsom glas, tallrikar, koppar, kastruller, bestick o.s.v. är nytt. Allt gammalt är kasserat. I korridårena på plan 1 till 4 spacklas och slipas alla springor på golvet vilket underlättar renhållningen och måleriarbetet. På 7 ställen runt hotellet har vi monterat slangvindor för vattenslangar så att vi slipper ha dom liggande på marken.
Jag måste också berätta att jag nyligen hade en gäst på hotellet som filmade hela Poros från luften med sin drönare. En riktigt trevlig film. Ni kan se den HÄR.
Naturligtvis måste jag också ha med en bild på min vän den glade slaktaren Spiros.

-Welcome to a new exciting year at Panorama Apartments. It’s been quiet from me for a while now and that’s because I first had a long holiday over Christmas and New Year. After that, a review and inventory began with Vasillis regarding things that need to be fixed at the hotel before the official opening on April 1st. After the inventory, it was time to tackle the most urgent things. During this time, I have also been open a little sporadically, especially on weekends because the demand has been high. This made it a bit stressful to fix everything and at the same time have guests in the hotel. In addition, improvement works are carried out when necessary throughout the season, but this time after the new year is the most hectic. What will be immediately noticeable to your guests is that all household utensils such as glasses, plates, cups, pans, cutlery, etc. is new. Everything old is discarded. In the corridors on floors 1 to 4, all cracks in the floor are filled and sanded, which facilitates cleaning and painting work. In 7 places around the hotel, we have installed hose reels for water hoses so that we don’t have them lying on the ground. I also have to tell you that I recently had a guest at the hotel who filmed the whole of Poros from the air with his drone. A really nice movie. You can see it HERE.
