POROS

-Den otroliga värmen fortsätter här på Poros. Över 40 grader på dagen och 30 grader på natten. Att vara i solen mitt på dagen är inte att tänka på. Det är skugga och bad i havet som gäller för att man ska orka med. Jag har några vänner på besök och jag ville då gärna visa dom Aleki beach som jag skrivit om tidigare men jag gör det igen då det är fin sandstrand som är långgrund och mycket barnvänlig. Den ligger rakt över vattnet på fastlandet från Panorama Apartments sett. Man tar sig hit från Galata med bil / scooter eller taxi. Man kör då söderut och direkt när man passerat den stora marinan tar man till vänster in på en smal väg som leder ner till stranden. Alternativt kan man boka en taxibåt som kostar 30€ enkel väg. Ett bra alternativ om man är några stycken. På den ena sidan av stranden kan man ofta sitta för sig själv och på andra sidan är det mer organiserat med solstolar och en enklare taverna. På andra sidan stranden är det en liten insjö. Jag kan verkligen rekommendera den här stranden.

– The incredible heat continues here on Poros. Over 40 degrees during the day and 30 degrees at night. Being in the sun in the middle of the day is out of the question. It is shade and swimming in the sea that apply. I have some friends visiting and I wanted to show them Aleki beach, which I wrote about before, but I will do it again as it is a nice sandy beach that is shallow and very child-friendly. It is directly across the water on the mainland as seen from the Panorama Apartments. You can get here from Galata by car / scooter or taxi. You drive south and immediately after passing the large marina you turn left onto a narrow road that leads down to the beach. Alternatively, you can book a taxi boat which costs €30 one way. A good alternative if there are several of you. On one side of the beach you can often sit by yourself and on the other side it is more organized with sunbeds and a simpler tavern. On the other side of the beach is a small lake. I can really recommend this beach.

-Det är full fart på hotellet nu och sommarvärmen har kommit. Det är runt 30 grader men ovanligt nog så kommer det en del moln dagligen och helt plötsligt kan det komma en regnskur vilket dock är bra för växtligheten.
I hela Grekland ska 28 stycken fiskodlingar byggas upp och tragiskt nog är Poros en av de ställen som är intressant för dessa anläggningar.
Besluten om detta har tagits på regeringsnivå och flertalet av anläggningarna har fått klartecken vilket gör det komplicerat att överklaga. Jag var på ett möte om detta och jag tycker att det är på gränsen till hur mycket man får ändra och förstöra både i naturen och för turismen som vi lever av här på Poros.
Det kom så mycket människor som visade intresse för och emot det här projektet så att det till slut inte fanns plats i lokalen och många fick stå utanför. Det hela slutade med att mötet flyttades till ett område utomhus istället.
Det finns dock en liten chans att det inte blir någon etablering på Poros.
Det finns nämligen en europeisk naturlag som säger att känslig natur som kan påverka lokalbefolkning och turismen negativt skall undantas från liknande projekt.
Eventuellt kan den lagen användas för att stoppa projektet runt Poros. Dessa odlingar planeras att ligga efter strandlinjen på norra sidan av ön utanför de vackra vikar där vanligtvis båtar brukar lägga till. Odlingarna kommer då att täcka 25% av strandlinjen. Vi får hoppas att projektet kommer att stoppas.

-It is full speed at the hotel now and the summer heat has arrived. It is around 30 degrees and there are clouds every day and all of a sudden there can be a downpour which is good for the vegetation but it is very unusual at this time of year.
Across Greece, 28 fish farms are to be built and tragically, Poros is one of the places of interest for these facilities.
The decisions on this have been taken at government level and the majority of the facilities have received the go-ahead level, which makes it complicated to appeal. I was at a meeting about this and I think it is on the limit of how much you can change and destroy both in nature and for the tourism that we live on here on.
There were so many people who showed interest for and against this project that in the end there was not enough space in the meeting room so many had to stand outside. It all ended with the meeting having to be moved to an outdoor area instead.
However, there is a small chance that there will be no establishment on Poros.
Namely, there is a European nature law that states that sensitive nature that can negatively affect the local population and tourism must be exempted from similar projects.
Possibly, that law can be used to stop the project around Poros. These plantations are planned to be located along the shoreline on the north side of the island outside the beautiful bays where boats usually dock. The plantations will then cover 25% of the shoreline. Let’s hope the project will be stopped.

-På hela Poros har det numera anordnats gång och cykelleder som är tydligt utmärkta med skyltar och även färgmärkning på vägarna. Dessa leder finns i Poros stad och runt om hela ön. Det finns även uppmärkta gångleder i citronodlingarna utanför Galata.

-Throughout Poros, walking and cycling trails have now been arranged, which are clearly marked with signs and also color marking the roads. These trails can be found in the town of Poros and around the whole island. There are also marked walking trails in the lemon groves outside Galata.
